BassLayer is a UK-based DJ who intricately weaves the soul-shifting melodies and monumental sub-bass frequencies of psychedelic dub, bass, chill, breaks and trance with her own eclectic, hand-crafted samples and effects to create iridescent, transformative trance floors for intrepid psychedelic adventurers and space cadets. Through her creations she explores the balance between darkness and light that enables us to authentically and fully live our truth. She has been jiggling particles and wobbling eyeballs with her BassLayer sounds for the last five years at UK festivals, clubs and parties and across Europe, and is a resident DJ for the legendary Painted Chariot Music Appreciation Society.
She is also a multilingual vocal artist, lyricist, poet, tunesmith, conductor, designer and visual artist who loves the planet and its passengers, tech, and cats. Her life has always been bathed in tunes, rhythm, rhyme and colour, and she says she communicates and understands feelings and emotions best through music, poetry and images. Inspired by her life experiences, the often unforgiving beauty of the landscape she is immersed in living in wildest North West Wales, and with wide-ranging musical influences from goth metal to acapella four part harmony in Welsh, she has just launched her new solo project Artemis Complex. Through this project she has already performed as a featured artist on Geoglyph’s 2018 debut album Geolinguistic on the exciting new Bristol-based label Psychedelic Jelly Records, and she will be debuting some of her Artemis Complex sounds in her set for us here at Anthropos.
She says “after a time in the wilderness rediscovering the essence of my sound I am returning to create my own music once again. Come and have a wiggle and a giggle on the trancefloor with me!” - expect to be delighted and surprised in equal measure when you do!
