Eco Policy
Our Philosophy
We believe that Anthropos Festival is not only a symbol of a brighter human
future; it can literally make that future happen.
Ecological consciousness is one of Anthropos Festival's five Core Values.
We strive for a green and sustainable future, and we act on that aspiration
concretely and measurably. Our approach encompasses carbon offsetting,
zero-waste ambitions, plant-based food, water conservation, eco-friendly
sanitation and active land stewardship.
We also recognise that a just ecological future is inseparable from a just
social one. This is why our eco commitments sit alongside our inclusion,
anti-discrimination and community safety work. The Solarpunk vision that
inspires us is one of radical ecological and social transformation.

What We Do
These are the concrete, measurable actions we take at every edition of
Anthropos Festival.
For every festival ticket sold, we plant a tree in your name. We work with the
Woodland Trust and local conservationists to ensure the right mixture of native
species are planted, expanding habitats and sequestering carbon year after year.
All food served at Anthropos Festival is 100% plant-based. The meat and dairy
industry is the largest single contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.
Choosing plant-based is the single greatest dietary choice any of us can make for
the planet.
We power the festival using solar energy wherever possible, reducing our
reliance on diesel generators and fossil fuels on site. This is an ongoing
area of development as we grow.
Single-use plastic is banned from the festival. All food and drink is served
with reusable or compostable serveware. Plastic glitter and confetti are
strictly prohibited. We provide deposit serveware for those who forget
their own.
Our compost toilet system uses no water and no chemicals, producing valuable
compost from human waste as part of a closed loop. Attendees are asked to add
sawdust after each visit to support the composting process.
We encourage all attendees to bring refillable water bottles and containers.
Free water points are provided across the site. Eco-friendly soaps and shampoos
only are permitted to protect local waterways and soil health.
We operate a leave-no-trace philosophy. Unlike many festivals, we do not
charge a rubbish deposit: we give unconditional responsibility to each person
to take home what they bring. We provide recycling and waste selection points,
and our Eco-Team actively collect any MOOP (Matter Out Of Place).
We donate to Ecolibrium
(formerly Energy Revolution) for every camper and parking ticket sold, to offset
fossil-fuel travel miles. A carpooling scheme rewards full cars with free parking.
All vendors and traders are required to use eco-friendly cleaning products.
We ask all attendees to bring only natural soaps, shampoos and personal products
to protect soil and water systems around the site.
The Anthropos Woodland
A living legacy, growing year by year.
In March 12020 (2020), under extreme ecological precautions, a group of eight
Anthropos eco warriors planted over 1,000 trees.one for every person who
attended the first edition of the festival. We selected a mixture of different
regional native trees and bushes, enabling the original ecosystem to flourish again.
We work with the Woodland Trust
and local conservationists to ensure that the right kind and mixture of native trees
are planted. In addition to direct carbon capture, through strategic placement we
are seeking to expand local habitats, enabling a greater diversity of other plants
and animals.
The Anthropos Woodland Grows With Us
All of this is to be seen in the context of a greater Anthropos Woodland, expanded
upon year by year. For every ticket you purchase, a tree is planted in your name.
Your tree is part of something that will outlast all of us.

Zero Waste Ambition
Each year in the UK, approximately 57 tonnes of reusable items are abandoned
at festivals. We are determined that Anthropos will not contribute to that figure.
We ask that you leave no trace: take home everything you brought with you. We provide
waste infrastructure so you can select and dispose of any genuinely unwanted items
responsibly. Our Eco-Team actively picks up MOOP and attempts to recycle as much
abandoned material as possible.
On Glitter & Decorative Waste
Plastic glitter and confetti are strictly prohibited. Microplastics from glitter
persist in soil and waterways for decades. If you wish to sparkle at Anthropos,
please use certified biodegradable glitter alternatives only.
nourishing Body & Planet
All food served at Anthropos.by internal stalls and third-party traders
alike.is 100% plant-based. No meat, fish or dairy products are served
on site.
Avoiding meat and dairy has been identified by leading environmental researchers
as the single most impactful dietary choice an individual can make to reduce their
personal environmental footprint. By making this the standard for our entire site,
we reduce the collective impact of thousands of meals served across the festival.
All food is served with reusable or compostable serveware. We strongly encourage
you to bring your own plate, cup, cutlery and reusable water bottle. A deposit
serveware scheme is in place for those who forget.
Pack Your Own PEM
PEM stands for Personal Everyday Matter. Please remember to pack your own: plate,
cup, knife, fork, spoon and reusable water bottle. The deposit scheme is a
safety net, not the primary plan!
