1. Our Commitment

Anthropos Festival is committed to providing an environment that is free from
discrimination, harassment and prejudice in all its forms. The name Anthropos
means human in ancient and modern Greek: it is a fundamental expression
of our belief that every human being is equally valued, equally deserving of
dignity and equally welcome in our community.

This policy applies to all Anthropos events, activities, online spaces, and
all interactions between attendees, crew, performers, volunteers and traders
operating within the Anthropos umbrella.

3. What Constitutes Discrimination

For the purposes of this policy, discrimination includes:

  • Direct discrimination: Treating a person less favourably because of a protected characteristic.
  • Indirect discrimination: Applying a provision, criterion or practice that puts persons with a protected characteristic at a disadvantage.
  • Harassment: Unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic that has the purpose or effect of violating a person's dignity or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment.
  • Victimisation: Treating someone unfairly because they have raised a concern, complaint or report under this policy.
  • Hate speech: Any communication that dehumanises people based on protected characteristics.
  • Denial, glorification or trivialisation of genocide, the Holocaust, apartheid or crimes against humanity: The Holocaust. the systematic murder of six million Jews and millions of others by the Nazi regime. is a historical fact. Holocaust denial is antisemitism. Anthropos recognises the Holocaust and all such crimes against humanity as among the gravest violations of human dignity under international law. The advocacy, glorification, trivialisation or denial of the Holocaust or any genocide. whether historical or ongoing. constitutes a fundamental breach of this policy and of the values upon which Anthropos is built.

4. Specific Commitments

4.1 Race & Ethnicity

We are actively anti-racist. Racism in all its forms.overt, casual, structural
or systemic.has no place in the Anthropos community. Racial slurs, stereotyping,
ethnically targeted harassment and racially motivated exclusion are prohibited absolutely.

4.2 Gender Identity & Expression

We affirm the gender identities of all people, including transgender, non-binary,
genderqueer, genderfluid and gender non-conforming individuals. Misgendering after
correction, invasive questioning about transition or a person's body, and outing
are all prohibited. Gender-neutral facilities are provided where possible.

4.3 Sexual Orientation

We celebrate the full spectrum of human sexuality. Homophobia, biphobia and any
prejudice based on sexual orientation are prohibited. All relationship structures
and loving arrangements are equally welcome.

4.4 Disability & Accessibility

We are committed to making Anthropos as accessible as possible to people with
disabilities. We provide accessible facilities, PA tickets for carers and
accessibility support. See our Accessibility page
for full details.

4.5 Religion & Belief

We respect the diversity of religious and spiritual traditions. Anthropos is a
secular space that honours all faiths and none. No one will be discriminated against
on the basis of their spiritual practice or lack thereof.

4.6 Holocaust Denial, Genocide Denial, Apartheid and Crimes Against Humanity

Anthropos recognises the Holocaust, crimes against humanity, genocide and apartheid as among
the gravest violations of human dignity codified in international law.including the
Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (1998), the UN Convention on the
Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948) and the International
Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid (1973).

The Holocaust. the systematic, state-sponsored murder of six million Jews
and millions of others, including Roma, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people, political
prisoners and prisoners of war, by the Nazi regime. is a historical fact.
Holocaust denial is a form of antisemitism and is prohibited at all Anthropos events
and in all Anthropos spaces.

The advocacy, glorification, trivialisation or denial of the Holocaust, or of any
other genocide, crime against humanity or apartheid regime.whether historical
or ongoing.is likewise prohibited. This applies equally regardless of the
geographic context, the identity of perpetrators, or the identity of victims.
Anthropos takes no institutional political position on specific ongoing conflicts,
but is unequivocal that dehumanising language, the incitement of ethnic or national
hatred, and the celebration or denial of mass atrocity are incompatible with our
community and our values.

Anthropos event or in connection with Anthropos activities, please use any
