As the mainstream conversation around psychedelics starts to loosen up, will we begin to get more diverse representations of the psychedelic experience on film? After a brief overview of the trajectory or psychedelics in cinema, we'll look at what the future could look like on screen, and how other visual traditions could add to the established tropes of 60s psychedelia. A psychedelic experience can be many different things, nuanced, full-on, low-key, and interconnected – representing that in our most popular medium could go a long way to shifting the conversation.
Sasha is the Content Manager for the Beckley Foundation, where he explores effective ways to tell stories about psychedelic science and drug policy reform. He is keen to make use of emerging forms of communication to inform the dialogue around drug prohibition and the place of psychedelics in modern society. Most recently Sasha has been creating videos and animations to promote the work of the psychedelic community.
